Are You Ready for the 2023 Lubbock Matadors Season?

After a highly successful opening season the Lubbock Matadors return to the 806. They’ll kick off the 2023 season at Lubbock Cooper Pirates Stadium on May 13th at 7:30.

The NPSL attendance leader is attempting to repeat with your help. Food trucks, promotions and games with some familiar faces returning for the Matadors.

They will start off the 2023 season facing their new rival, the West Texas FC out of Midland-Odessa. The cup (which will be announced soon) will be awarded to the winner of this derby on May 13th. They then host Brownsville NPSL on the 20th before heading to Gallos FC on the 24th. The road trip continues with the Central Texas Coyotes before returning home. On June 2nd, the Matadors face the Vaqueros from Ft Worth before the return battle with the Coyotes on the 10th.

The pattern of two road, two home games continues as the Matadors face CF10 Houston on June 15th and Corinthians FC of San Antonio on the 17th. The final homestand in Lubbock starts June 22nd vs Laredo Heat and 28th versus Austin United. July will host the final two games of the regular season versus Denton on the 1st. The 8th will be the away game of the previously unnamed derby with West Texas FC.

Anthony “Tony” Vargus, Kodai Kobayashi, Mitar Mirtrovich, Luke Jones, Taurayi Tugwete (TT), and Will Rodriguez have announced their return this year. New players are announced as the season approaches.
