Legends Classic matchups announced
Texas Tech is 0-2 all-time against Saint Joseph’s after taking a 70-65 loss in the second round of the 2004 NCAA Tournament in Buffalo, New York in the last matchup. The first game between the two programs came on December 15, 1951, with Saint Joseph’s taking a 62-58 win in Philadelphia. The Hawks went 21-14 overall last season and were 9-9 in Atlantic 10 play. Their season ended with a 75-72 overtime loss at Seton Hall in the NIT.
The Red Raiders are 1-1 all-time against Syracuse with the last matchup coming in 2005 and are now 67-90 all-time against the Longhorns after splitting the series last season with the road team winning each game.
The 2023 Legends Classic presented by Old Trapper was captured by Auburn which defeated St. Bonaventure 77-60 in the Championship Game. First played in 2007, the Legends Classic presented by Old Trapper has become one of college basketball’s premier early-season tournaments. Featuring four teams from across the nation, the Legends Classic presented by Old Trapper annually attracts the top programs in the sport with an opportunity to win a championship in downtown Brooklyn and the home of the Brooklyn Nets – Barclays Center.
Texas Tech is coming off a season where it went 23-11 overall and finished tied for third in the Big 12 standings with an 11-7 record in head coach Grant McCasland’s first season leading the program. The Red Raiders reached the Big 12 Championship semifinals and earned a trip to the 2024 NCAA Tournament.
The Red Raiders have also announced non-conference matchups for the 2024-25 season against DePaul and Texas A&M. Tech will host DePaul on Wednesday, December 4 in the Big 12-Big East Battle before playing the Aggies on Sunday, December 8 at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth.
