Lubbock ISD Statement: Social Media Threats

Lubbock ISD Police and administration are receiving reports of the same social media posts circulating across the South Plains yesterday. The posts have been altered several times by using screenshots and adding text, and continue to be shared, causing panic and fear. We appreciate the staff, students, parents, and guardians who have reported the posts, but are asking for help to not continue sharing the information.

Our partners at the Lubbock Police Department are aware of these reports and do not believe there is a credible threat to the schools in our area. We are working together closely to track the origin of the post. We take these reports seriously and work with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies to fully investigate any threat to the safety of our students and staff.

Our safety and security protocols, communication tools, threat assessment processes, and partnership with law enforcement agencies are all integral to keeping our campuses safe. We have worked diligently to increase and improve safety and security in Lubbock ISD over the last five years, and ensuring a safe learning environment for students and staff is critical to our mission. We appreciate the support of our community and law enforcement partners to keep our schools a safe place to learn and grow.
