Peyton Parsons Tabbed Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week

IRVING, Texas — A day after being named to the TopDrawer Soccer National Team of the Week, forward Peyton Parsons was named the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week on Wednesday.

After scoring five times including her first career hat trick, Parsons started the week in style, completing the soccer version of a cycle. Parsons, who entered the season with just one career goal, now has scored seven times in 2024.

The Coloradoan got the week off to a strong start when she scored just one minute and 37 seconds into the match off a beautiful cross and feed from Macy Blackburn. In the 65th minute, Parsons recorded her first career brace, when she ripped a free kick missile from just outside the 18.

Seeking her first career hat trick, Parsons delivered from the spot, burying the first of two PKs that she would score on the week. The PK goal, combined with the set piece and run-of-play goal, completed the trifecta.

With three goals to her name on the week, Parsons quickly backed up her hat trick on Sunday afternoon scoring twice in Tech’s 5-0 romp over ORU. Parsons first goal came from the spot and served as the game-winner, marking the third time this season that Parsons has scored the game-winning goal.

The recognition is both the first career honor for Parsons and is the first national honor for a Red Raider this season.

Riding a 16-match home regular season unbeaten streak, Texas Tech returns to action on Thursday night against Oregon. First touch from the John Walker Soccer Complex is set for 7 p.m.
