Red Raiders Back Under the Lights Versus Cincinnati
LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech will close its three-game homestand under the Jones AT&T Stadium lights Saturday night as kickoff between the Red Raiders and Cincinnati has been selected for a 7 p.m. CT start. Television coverage will be provided nationally on ESPN2.
Texas Tech is already expecting a sellout crowd for its first meeting with the Bearcats as Big 12 members. The athletics department sold out of its primary ticket inventory for the Cincinnati game over a week ago as fans still looking for tickets are encouraged to utilize SeatGeek, the official secondary ticket provider of Texas Tech Athletics. All fans are encouraged to wear black on Saturday.
The Red Raiders and Bearcats both enter this next weekend at 3-1 overall and 1-0 in Big 12 play as Texas Tech topped Arizona State, 30-22, on Saturday, while Cincinnati shut out Houston, 34-0, at home. Texas Tech will be searching for its first 2-0 start to Big 12 play since 2013 with a win over the Bearcats.
Texas Tech is a perfect 3-0 at home this season and an impressive 14-3 inside Jones AT&T Stadium under Joey McGuire, who improved to 18-12 early in his tenure as head coach with the Arizona State win. It marked the most wins by a Texas Tech head coach through 30 games since Steve Sloan was 21-9 at the same point from 1975-77.
The Cincinnati game time was previously under a six-day selection window by the Big 12’s television partners ESPN and FOX. The game time and television designation for Texas Tech’s next road trip Oct. 5 at Arizona could be announced as early as Monday.
