Red Raiders rout Lobos 9-2

ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico – Texas Tech gathered its sixth-straight win in a 9-2 rout of New Mexico (4-14) on Wednesday afternoon.

The Red Raiders (13-3) power showed as they launched three home runs including a Raegan Jennings moonshot which marked the first of her career.

Riley Love got the scoring started for Tech as she launched a three-run homer to left-center field following back-to-back singles by Aubrey Barnhart and Arriana Villa to lead-off the game.

Villa ripped a double in the second inning to score Logan Halleman to put the Red Raiders up 5-0. Halleman returned the favor with a sac-fly in the third inning to score Abbie Orrick before Villa picked up her second RBI of the day on a solo shot over the fence in the fourth.

Dee McClarity hit a double off the wall in left field and Makenna Mitchell drove in a run on a ground ball to account for the final two runs of the day.

Maddy Wright started the game and pitched 3.0 innings, allowing just one run on one hit and striking out four.

Olivia Rains improved to 4-0 on the year after pitching 2.0 innings and striking out three as Maddie Kuehl came in for the final two innings to close out the game and secure the win.

 

UP NEXT: The Red Raiders will play their first home games of the season as they host the Jeannine McHaney Memorial Classic beginning on Friday and running through Sunday.
