Sophomore Sam Courtwright Earns Third Team Preseason All-America Honors

LUBBOCK, Texas – After winning Big 12 Freshman of the Year and earning both Third Team All-American and Freshman All-American status, rising sophomore Sam Courtwright was tabbed a Third Team Preseason All-American by TopDrawer Soccer.

In their annual Preseason Best IX, Courtwright was selected to the Third Team, after tallying five goals and eight assists during her first collegiate season.

Courtwright played and start in all 23 matches for Texas Tech in 2023. Courtwright recorded at least 80 minutes in 11 matches, including in eight of the final 10 matches of the year.

The midfielder missed just 16 minutes of the Red Raiders run through the NCAA Tournament and played the full match eight times, as the Dallas native quickly cemented her status as not only one of the nation’s best freshmen but also one of the best attacking midfielders in the country.

The honor concludes a busy summer and preseason for Courtwright who was named a Preseason All-Big 12 selection and was also named to the USYNT roster for the 2024 U-20 FIFA World Cup later this month in Colombia.
