Texas Tech 6, ACU 0

LUBBOCK, Texas – Macy Schultz and Kirsten Davis had two goals each to help lead Texas Tech to a 6-0 non-conference win over Abilene Christian on Sunday night at the Walker Soccer Complex.

The Red Raiders (3-0-1) earned their third shutout win of the season with goalkeeper Madison White recording four saves, while the offense scored the most goals since a 5-0 win over West Texas A&M last season and matched a six-goal performance in the 2019 season-opener. TTU moves to 5-0 all-time against ACU in the series with all five wins coming in Lubbock. The Texas Tech record for most goals in a game is 10, coming against Prairie View A&M in 2006 and SFA in 2005.

Schultz scored the first goal of the game in the 14th minute of play off a double assist from Cassie Hiatt and Macy Blackburn and was followed by Davis who struck in the 22nd minute for a 2-0 lead. The two goals gave the Red Raiders a 2-0 lead at halftime before an onslaught in the first 10 minutes of the second half made it 6-0.

Texas Tech took a 3-0 lead in the 47th minute with ACU having an own-goal and then was up 4-0 on the second goal of the night from Davis just 46 seconds later. Davis now has 34 career goals for the Red Raiders. TTU added to its lead three minutes later with freshman Macy Blackburn scoring the first goal of her career off a double assist from Davis and Schultz. Blackburn’s goal came int eh 50th minute for a 5-0 lead before Schultz struck for the second time in the 54th minute off an assist from Davis.

Schultz was originally credited for the own-goal, but upon film review it was ruled an own-goal. Schultz and Davis both now have three goals this season to lead the Red Raiders.

Texas Tech is now 3-0 at home with three shutouts. The Red Raiders are 2-0 on their current four-game home stand that continues with Cal State Fullerton coming to Lubbock for a 7 p.m. game on Thursday before playing UTSA next Sunday at 6 p.m. at the Walker Soccer Complex.
