Texas Tech Athletics announces new merchandise provider

LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech announced Thursday a multi-year partnership with locally-owned Red Raider Outfitter to become the new in-venue merchandise provider for the athletics department.

Under the new partnership, Red Raider Outfitter will provide officially licensed Texas Tech merchandise inside athletic venues, including Jones AT&T Stadium, United Supermarkets Arena and Dan Law Field at Rip Griffin Park, among others.

“Red Raider Outfitter has a history of extraordinary customary service and outfitting our fans in the best Texas Tech gear,” Deputy Athletics Director Jonathan Botros said. “They will be a great addition to the atmosphere in and around each of our venues. As we move forward with this new partnership, we’d also like to thank The Matador for eight years as our official in-venue gameday merchandiser and the exemplary service they provided.”

Red Raider Outfitter now has five store locations in Lubbock alone, including three near the Texas Tech campus with one directly across from Jones AT&T Stadium on University Avenue. The alumni-owned business first opened its doors in 1975, creating a convenient environment near campus to get the latest officially licensed Texas Tech merchandise.

Over the span of 40-plus years in the Lubbock market, Red Raider Outfitter has consistently ranked as a top performer in the collegiate retail marketplace, maintaining decades-long relationships with best-in-class licensees and offering an extraordinary selection of Texas Tech officially licensed products.

As part of its new partnership with Texas Tech Athletics, Red Raider Outfitter has hired Christian Bray to help lead the company’s in-venue sales operation. Bray has significant experience with merchandise sales at several of the nation’s top events, namely the Preakness Stakes, National Finals Rodeo, Concacaf Gold Cup and most recently as part of Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour. He previously helped manage in-venue merchandise sales for Auburn Athletics as well.

“The partnership is a perfect union,” said Stephen Spiegelberg, general manager of Red Raider Outfitter. “Texas Tech Athletics continues to take a position of power and energy in the new Big 12. Adding the Texas Tech fan’s iconic brand of Red Raider Outfitter will allow us to further capture the traditions and spirit of the school as together we write the next chapter. Together as a fan base and a department, we turn the page to championships. This partnership will serve our fans first, and that is why we felt so positive about moving forward together with Texas Tech Athletics.”

Red Raider Outfitter will operate stands both inside and outside Jones AT&T Stadium beginning Sept. 9 when Texas Tech hosts Oregon to kick off its home slate. Kickoff is slated for 6 p.m. that evening for a sellout crowd on FOX.
