Texas Tech Cross Country

LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech cross country team hosted its first and only home meet of the season Friday morning at the LCU Cross Country Course.

 

The meet began with the men’s 8k race led by meet winner Ernest Cheruiyot with a time of 23:17.28. Cheruiyot, in two meets this year, has placed second and first. Meanwhile, newcomer Nathan Kapel crossed the finish line in second with a time of 24:10.57. Vincent Koech (24:31.51) placed fourth as Gideon Kiplimo (25:10.20) rounded out the top-10 coming in seventh.

 

Isaac Hernandez (25:40.19) finished 15th as Demitrius Guerrero (26:13.38) and Taylor Lee (26:15.08) finished 23rd and 24th, respectively.

 

Over on the women’s side, Juliet Cherubet claimed first with her second-straight meet win. Cherubet clocked a 6k time of 20:31.10. Anastasia Chepkorir finished third for a second-straight time this year going 21:11.90. True freshman Taytum Goodman was the only other Red Raider in the top-10 as she placed sixth with a time of 22:29.10.

 

Jenna Carter (23:28.10), Taylor Limbaugh (23:32.89) and Alexia Garza (23:47.20) and Sarah Zdansky (24:00.80) placed 14th, 15th, 18th and 20th. Cassandra O’Pry rounded out the top-25 in 24th with a time of 24:17.10.
