LUBBOCK, Texas – Two Red Raiders will make a quarterfinals appearance in singles, while a doubles pair is heading to the semifinals after winning their respective matches on Thursday at the West Texas Pro Tennis Open.

Olle Wallin picked up his first ranked win of the season after taking on fellow teammate and No. 51-ranked Isaac Arevalo in the second round of the main draw. In the match, Wallin only dropped two games en route to a 6-1, 6-1 victory. He will take on Jaycer Lyeons in the quarterfinals tomorrow.

Joining Wallin in the singles quarterfinals is Dimitrios Azoidis, who defeated the eight-seed, Gabriel Evans, in two tiebreakers, 7-6 (6), 7-6 (1). Azoidis is set to face No. 2-seed and ITA No. 115 Blaise Bicknell of Tennessee in the next round.

Wallin paired up with Piotr Pawlak for doubles as the duo took on a familiar tandem in Arevalo and Azoidis in the quarterfinals. It was a tough match for both pairs as Arevalo/Azoidis won the first set, 7-5. Wallin and Pawlak forced a super tiebreak when they claimed the second set by a 6-4 score.

The tiebreak went back-and-forth, but ultimately the Wallin/Pawlak duo came out on top with a 10-7 breaker. They will face the Wichita State pair of Kristof Minarik and Alex Richards tomorrow in the semifinals.
