Barnhart’s first home run lifts Red Raiders to fourth win

LUBBOCK, Texas– The Red Raiders (4-2) defeated Sam Houston (0-4) by a score of 4-2 to open up its appearance in the Texas State Tournament on Friday night.

Aubrey Barnhart highlighted the game for Tech, hitting a two-run home run in the first inning. That blast was the first of her college career and it proved to be the difference in the game.

Olivia Rains got her first win of the season after pitching 4.0 innings, allowing two runs and striking out three. Maddie Kuehl closed out the game and got the save, her first of the season, after pitching 3.0 shutout innings.

Logan Halleman recorded the first RBI of her collegiate career on a single up the middle in the fourth inning to score Riley Love and put Tech up 4-2.

The other Red Raiders run came in the third inning on a double steal attempt that Abbie Orrick was able to score on.
