Braxton Fulford Named Rockies Organizational Player of the Month

DENVER – Fresh off a month where he hit .298 and had an OPS of .981, former Texas Tech catcher Braxton Fulford was named the Colorado Rockies Organizational Player of the Month, the Rockies announced Thursday.

Fulford, who was drafted in the sixth round of the 2021 draft by the Rockies, has reached as high as AAA in his pro career and has hit .262 in 282 career games. Fulford has 35 career home runs and driven in 135 runs.

A native of Lubbock, Fulford has played in 86 games this season for the Rockies AA affiliate in Hartford, hitting .247 with 10 home runs and 45 RBIs.

The catcher has come alive since the calendar flipped to July, as Fulford has hit 35-for-116 (.302) with five home runs and 19 RBIs in 34 total games played in July and August.

After hitting .305 with a .382 OBP in July, Fulford kept it rolling in August, hitting six doubles, a triple and three homers in his 57 official at-bats. Including his 10 September at-bats, Fulford is now hitting 38-for-126 (.302) since July 1.

Winners of the first half Northeast Division Championship, Hartford has clinched its spot in the 2024 Eastern League Playoff which are set to begin on Sept. 17.  The Yard Goats enter play on Friday (Sept. 6) with an overall record of 72-55.
