Lincoln, Toney named to D1Softball’s D100 Freshman Watch List
LUBBOCK, Texas – D1Softball announced its D100 Freshman Watch List for the 2025 season. The Red Raiders were represented by pitcher Samantha Lincoln and infielder Hailey Toney.
Texas Tech’s freshman class was ranked No. 2 in the country by Extra Inning Softball thanks to nine signees including Lincoln and Toney.
Lincoln hails from Taunton, Massachusetts and was the 17th ranked player in the 2024 class as well as the Massachusetts Gatorade Player of the Year. She posted an impressive 0.21 ERA over 133 innings and struck out 284 batters. Lincoln also played travel ball for the Louisville Lady Sluggers under coach Jim Huecker.
Toney, a Magnolia, Texas native, was the 10th ranked infielder in the 2024 class and had an impressive fall that her in the starting lineup and playing shortstop. Toney finished high school with a .602 batting average and accumulated 223 hits. She played travel ball for Hotshots National under coach Nathan Nelson.
