Lubbock Fire Rescue Reminds Citizens of Free Alarm Detector Program

Lubbock Fire Rescue reminds all Lubbock residents that live within the city limits of Lubbock, Texas of its free smoke alarm program. This program is a collaboration with American Red Cross & The City of Lubbock Community Development to offer free smoke alarms for those that live within the city limits of Lubbock, Texas in effort to make sure that every household is equipped with working smoke alarms.

How to Sign Up for The Free Smoke Alarm Program:

1. Visit LFR Website: Residents can apply for the program by visiting our website at LubbockFireRescue.com and filling out the short form.

2. Call 311: For those who prefer to speak with someone directly, you can call 311 to be connected with our City of Lubbock Call Center and be connected with the proper representative.

3. Visit MyLBK App: The MyLBK app is a convenient way to access a variety of city services. This includes signing up for the free smoke detector app. Available for both Apple & Android devices.

According to research conducted by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA):

• 3 out of 5 deaths happen in homes with no smoke detectors or no working smoke detectors
• Having a smoke detector eliminates the risk of dying in a house fire by 50 percent
