Lubbock ISD Board of Trustees Approves New Coronado HS Football Coach
At this morning’s Lubbock ISD board meeting, trustees approved the hiring of Andrew Roy as the high school athletic coordinator/head football coach for Coronado High School.
Roy has served as the assistant head coach and defensive coordinator at Coronado High School since coming to Lubbock ISD in 2021. His 16 years in education also include stops at Highland High School in San Antonio and Snyder High School. In addition to coaching football, he also has experience coaching both track and baseball. Roy has demonstrated success throughout his coaching career and was named the National Football Foundation Assistant Coach of the Year in 2022. He earned his bachelor’s degree in behavioral science from Hardin-Simmons University and has a master’s degree in education with a sports management focus from Concordia University. He and his wife, Julissa, have four children: Anyssa, Alyssa, Adrianna, and Avery.
