Santos-Silva signs contract with Cleveland Browns

LUBBOCK, Texas – Former Texas Tech basketball player Marcus Santos-Silva has signed a free agent deal with the Cleveland Browns.

Santos-Silva earned All-Big 12 Honorable Mention last season where he averaged 4.7 points, 4.1 rebounds and led the Red Raiders with 25 blocked shots. A Taunton, Massachusetts native, Santos-Silva played three seasons at VCU before transferring to Tech where he played the past two seasons. He did not play college football.

The Browns also selected Texas Tech center Dawson Deaton on Saturday with a seventh-round pick.

Santos-Silva played in 163 collegiate basketball games, finishing his career with 1,244 points, 957 rebounds and 153 blocked shots. A 6-foot-6, 260 pound forward, he had 13 career double-doubles, including one last season when he had 10 points and 10 rebounds in the home win over Oklahoma State. Santos-Silva provided a strong performance in the Big 12 Championship final with eight points and six rebounds against Kansas and provided five rebounds, two blocks and four points in the win over Notre Dame to help the Red Raiders advance to the Sweet 16.
