Texas Tech closes out the Carmel Cup

PEBBLE BEACH, CALIF. – Junior Lauren Zaretsky secured a top 20 finish on Sunday, leading the Texas Tech women’s golf team at its first tournament of the 2024-25 season at the Carmel Cup at Pebble Beach Golf Links. Zaretsky carded a 4-over-par 76 in the final round to finish tied for 16th with a 54-hole 9-over 225.

Zaretsky, who led the Red Raiders throughout the tournament, capitalized on a pair of par 3’s for her only two birdies in Sunday’s final round. She was 4-over-par after the first 13 holes before closing out the event with five consecutive pars.Klara Hurtova and Maja Ambroziak secured a pair of top-30 finishes, while also contributing to Texas Tech’s overall score on Sunday within the six-player, count-five team scoring format. Hurtova shot a final round 6-over 78 while Ambroziak fought her way back with a 3-over-par 75, which included back-to-back birdies on holes six and seven that led to a 1-under-par front nine. Both finished 17-over-par in the tournament.

The Red Raiders carded a final round 31-over-par 391, dropping them into an eighth-place finish.

The Red Raiders will return to action Sept. 24-25 at the Red Raider Invitational at The Rawls Course.
