Texas Tech, Texas set for 2:30 p.m. start on Sept. 24

LUBBOCK, Texas – The Big 12 Conference announced on Monday a 2:30 p.m. CT kickoff for Texas Tech’s conference opener versus Texas on Sept. 24 at Jones AT&T Stadium. National broadcast details will be finalized after Sept. 17, but it was revealed it will be either be shown on ABC or ESPN.

Texas Tech and Texas will open Big 12 play against each other for the third-consecutive season on Sept. 24. This edition will be the two schools 72nd meeting all-time meeting and the 63rd-consecutive year the two in-state rivals have clashed. The Red Raiders will be looking for their first win over Texas since their 2017 win in Austin. The previous two matchups in Lubbock in 2018 and 2020 featured one-score wins for the Longhorns by virtue of a 41-34 outcome in 2018 and a heartbreaking 63-56 Tech loss in overtime in 2020.
