Wallin takes on Svajda in NCAA Singles Championships
LUBBOCK, Texas – For the second-consecutive year, senior Olle Wallin will make an appearance in the NCAA Singles Championships, beginning on Monday, May 20 at 4 p.m. in Stillwater, Okla.
No. 49-ranked Wallin led the Red Raiders this season, playing at the top of the lineup in singles where he compiled a 10-5 record at the position. Leading the team with three ranked singles victories, Wallin got the highest-ranked win of his career when he defeated No. 1 Eliot Spizziri of Texas in conference play en route to being named All-Big 12 Second Team singles. In addition, he boasts a 12-9 overall record on the year and will be making his second appearance in the individual tournament.
Wallin will be facing No. 41-ranked Trevor Svajda of SMU in the first round. The Mustang put together an overall singles record of 16-7, all of which came at the top court of the lineup. Svajda helped lead SMU to the NCAA Tournament, while being named the AAC Freshman of the Year and to the All-Conference Singles Team. In addition, he collected five ranked singles wins this season.
