Mark Adams and the Red Raiders men’s basketball team traveled to Morgantown this Saturday, taking down Bob Huggins and the West Virginia Mountaineers, 78-72.

Sophomore guard Jaylon Tyson led the team in scoring, dropping 27 points in today’s early afternoon game, while going 3-4 beyond the arc and 6-18 in overall FG shooting.

Shooter Pop Isaacs also returned to the court today after being benched due to an injury he would sustain in late January.

The freshman would go on to score 15 points on the floor, while leading the team in 3-point attempts, making 3 of 6 shots.

Other key elements that played part in the Red Raiders’ success today came from Utah Valley State University transfer Fardaws Aimaq, as the powerful forward would go 10-10 at the free throw line.

Texas Tech now finds themselves in the driver’s seat in their season, a feeling that the team has not felt since early December, as the Red Raiders’ were on 6-0 run.

Sitting on a four-game win streak, with two wins over top ranked No. 12 Kansas State (71-63) and No. 6 Texas (74-67), Tech will look to close out the last four games of the conference play in stunning fashion.

With a now fully-healthy team, Tech will travel to Norman to face Oklahoma, who beat the Red Raiders at home earlier in the season in overtime (63-68) and to Allen Fieldhouse to take on the No. 8 Kansas Jayhawks.

Texas Tech will also host No. 15 TCU at the United Supermarkets Arena (Feb. 25), and Oklahoma State (Mar. 5) in what will be the team’s last conference home game of the season.

The last two home games will play a crucial role in Tech’s momentum as they head into the Big 12 Men’s Basketball Championship (Mar. 8-11), as the team will call on its strong and loyal fanbase to show up at the USA.

If Texas Tech can close out the season by winning the four games of the regular season, the team’s record would close at 19-12, landing them either in the No. 7 or No. 8 spot in the overall Big 12 conference rankings.

Although it is not the final results Mark Adams and the teams were looking for, a strong finish that leads into the Big 12 tournament could suffice and be just enough to gain way into March Madness and the NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship
