Omlin completes day one of heptathlon

MANHATTAN, Kan. – Cole Omlin kicked off the DeLoss Dodds Invitational for Texas Tech capping off his day one of the heptathlon scoring 2,990 points at the K-State Indoor Track and Field Complex Thursday afternoon.

 

Omlin started the day securing a personal best in the opening event, the 60m sprint as he clocked in at 7.22 to take fifth overall. In the long jump, Omlin placed third with a leap of 6.90m (22-7.75).

 

His next personal best mark would come in the shot put with a mark of 12.79m (41-11.50), taking third overall – second-straight meet the junior registers a PB in the shot put. In the final event of the day, the high jump, Omlin cleared 1.93m (6-4) taking third overall.

 

He is currently 44 points ahead of his day one personal best heading into the final day tomorrow with only the 60m hurdles, pole vault and 1000m remaining.
