Texas Tech concludes trip in Waco

WACO, Texas – The Texas Tech track and field team battled through rainy conditions Saturday afternoon as it closed out the final day of the Michael Johnson Invite at Clyde Hart Track & Field Stadium.

 

The first event of the day to finish was the women’s javelin with Leah Howard and Kyeese Hollands representing Tech. Howard placed fourth at 47.96m (157-4) as Hollands finished sixth at 43.46m (142-7).

 

Mid-way through the afternoon, Melanie Jacobs secured a PB time in the 3000m steeplechase running a time of 11:14.52 as he placed third. Shortly after on the men’s side, Isaac Hernandez registered a PB time of 9:09.94 with a first-place finish.

 

Naomi Krebs was the top collegiate placer in the 100m hurdles with a second-place outing clocking in at 13.31 (1.5w).

Kayla Jones took second in the 800m (2:10.54)
Aleksandr Gerasimov registered an outdoor PB and SB of 2.11m (6-11)

Up Next
Texas Tech returns home next weekend to close out the regular season Friday and Saturday, as the team will hold a senior recognition ceremony on Saturday.
