A Letter From Maestro David Cho

Two years ago, members of the Lubbock Symphony traveled to Brno, Czech Republic. Here, children’s musical education begins at an early age. While learning more about what the Filharmonie Brno musicians and administration do to reach success in music education, the members of the Lubbock Symphony also experienced the performances of Filharmonie Brno (Brno Philharmonic); they preformed Dvorak and Martinu.

On February 20, Filharmonie Brno will come to Lubbock and also teach at the Texas Tech University School of Music. While preforming on their U.S. tour, Filharmonie Brno has invited some brass musicians from the Lubbock Symphony to preform with them.

With this in mind, one can come and celebrate, at the Buddy Holly Hall, Dvorak’s Symphony No. 8; this will be a prelude to the Lubbock Symphony’s performance of Dvorak’s “From the New World” Symphony. Filharmonie Brno will be the first international orchestra to visit Lubbock.
