Maupin named Preseason All-Big 12 Honorable Mention

LUBBOCK, Texas – After a stellar freshman campaign in the 2022-23 season, sophomore guard Bailey Maupin was named to the Preseason All-Big 12 Honorable Mention list as announced by the conference office on Wednesday afternoon.

The Gruver, Texas native lit up the stat sheet for Tech last year, ranking second on the team with 10.2 points per game and 337 points scored. Earning a spot on the 2023 Big 12 All-Freshman Team, Maupin made eight starts while appearing in 33 games for the Lady Raiders.

Averaging 2.8 rebounds per game, Maupin shot an impressive 41.4 percent from the field (109-of-263) and 83 percent from the free-throw line (88-of-106). She recorded 20 double-figure games and three 20-point games last season.

A two-time Big 12 Freshman of the Week selection, Maupin scored a career-high 27 points and set a school record for most free throws made without a miss (13) in Tech’s victory against Mercer on Nov. 26, 2022.

The Lady Raiders are almost a month away from their season opener as they take on the UTRGV Vaqueros on Nov. 7 at 6 p.m. in the United Supermarkets Arena.
