Maupin, Shavers named to Dave Campbell’s postseason award list
LUBBOCK, Texas – The postseason awards keep coming for sophomores Bailey Maupin and Jasmine Shavers as they were both recognized to the 2023-24 Dave Campbell’s All-Texas Women’s Basketball Awards list as announced by the organization on Tuesday afternoon.
Maupin and Shavers, who were awarded with All-Big 12 Honorable Mention in early March, were named to the postseason awards list for the first time in their careers. Maupin made the All-Texas Third Team while Shavers was a part of the All-Texas Honorable Mention team.
Shavers is coming off a season where she led the Lady Raiders with 15.4 points per game and was third on the team with 5.0 rebounds per game. Appearing in all 33 games and starting in 31, she also led the team with eight 20-plus point games and was second on the team with 26 double-figure scoring games.
Recording two double-doubles on the year, Shavers also posted a team-leading 14.4 points per game during Big 12 play and had two 20-point outings in the Big 12 Tournament, including a career-high 29-point performance against Houston in the first round. Shavers also led the Lady Raiders with 55 3-pointers and shot 40.1 percent from the field (173-for-431).
Maupin started in all 33 games this season as she ranked second on the team with 14.1 points per game while leading the Lady Raiders with 127 free throws made on an 85.8 free throw percentage, 42 steals and 102 assists. Also averaging a team-best 31.6 minutes per game, Maupin recorded 27 doubles-figure scoring games this year, which led Texas Tech. She also added four 20-plus scoring games, a double-double and a team-high six three-plus steal games.
The Gruver, Texas native put up a season-best 24 points against UCF on February 10, while also collecting her first career double-double against Sam Houston on December 5, 2023 with 15 points and a career-high 11 assists. Maupin has led the Lady Raiders in points 12 times, in assists 19 times and in steals 15 times this year. During Big 12 play, Maupin averaged 13.3 points per game and 2.6 assists per game in 18 games started. In addition, she also averaged double-figure scoring in the Big 12 Tournament with 12.5 points per game on 40.0 percent shooting (10-for-25).
