Ricochet’s Heath Wright to be Honored by South Plains College on November 2nd

South Plains College annually honors past alumni and in 2023 the voice of award-winning country group Ricochet, Heath Wright will be one of those honorees! The SPC Distinguished Alumni Celebration takes place on November 2nd during their annual banquet.

Over the years, Wright has continued to be involved at SPC and serves as a member of the SPC Commercial Music Advisory Board. He has even created ‘The Heath Wright – What You Leave Behind – Scholarship’ to provide scholarship funds to music students at SPC. Earlier this year, Wright attended the Scholarship Gala and raised an additional $22,000 to be contributed to the overall $312,805 raised for students!

“When I got into the music business, I had no idea how I would use the scholastic skills that I learned from attending South Plains College. Now, looking back, I can see how I put that knowledge to use on a daily basis,” says Heath Wright. “It always feels good to give back. I am not only thrilled that I get to help future alumni, but I am equally thrilled that someone took notice and that they are honoring me for the ‘paying it forward’ work that I have been doing.”

In addition to this honor, Wright released ‘Ricochet Then & Now…The Hits & More’ (Encore Music Group distributed by Smith Music Group), on August 18th as part of the 30th anniversary of the band’s formation in 1993.  The project includes the gold-selling single, “Daddy’s Money,” Top-10 hits, “What Do I Know,” “Love Is Stronger Than Pride,” and the Top-20 “He Left A Lot To Be Desired,” as well as new material.
