Our Dave Fernandez Explores 2022 Fan Expo in Dallas
It’s been a long road, getting from there to here. It’s hard to believe it’s been 3 years since my last Fan Expo in Dallas! I was looking forward to attending in 2020, but we all know what happened that year. So, cut to 2021 and yet again, I was unable to attend due to a scheduling conflict here at work. Let me just say it was infinitely worth the wait! Walking up to the Kay Bailey Convention Center alongside the likes of Wizards, Warriors, Superheroes, Cartoon Characters and other pop culture icons was exactly what I needed to recharge my inner geek!
There is so much to do and see here at Fan Expo Dallas. You can choose to sit in one of the many guest panels that cover the gamut from movie and tv stars, to celebrated comic book artists, voice over performers, gamers and cosplayers. No matter what floats your boat, you are bound to find something you’ll enjoy! Plus, there is the vendor’s floor where you can find merchandise of all kinds from every genre imaginable. I had to fight the urge to buy one of everything while I was there!
Best of all was getting the chance to visit with people from all over who came to share in their joy of the culture. It’s amazing how multi-generational these events are. You have parents and children, grandparents and grandchildren all gathered together for a weekend of wonder! I truly love these get-togethers because even though there are swords, phasers, light sabers, etc… there is no violence… just acceptance. Maybe the rest of the planet can learn a thing or two and realize we are all not that different from each other. I look forward to the next Fan Expo event and visiting with everyone in the community again soon! In the immortal words of the late great Leonard Nimoy, “Live Long and Prosper!”
