LUBBOCK, Texas – With week 17 of the NFL season in the rearview, which saw six Red Raiders in action of the 14 currently on NFL rosters, just one week of football remains in the NFL regular season. Of the former Red Raiders rostered, eight are on teams that have clinched a playoff spot while three remain in the hunt to secure a playoff spot in Week 18.

Jack Anderson, OL, Indianapolis Colts (2017-20)

Anderson was placed on the inactive list before the Colts game against the Raiders. The Colts defeated the Raiders 23-20 and maintained its hopes for a playoff bid. The Colts improved to 9-7 and are in a three-way tie for the lead in the AFC South alongside Jacksonville and Houston.

Jordyn Brooks – LB, Seattle Seahawks (2016-19)
Brooks sat out Week 17 due to an ankle injury suffered the week before at Tennessee during the first quarter. The Seahawks fell to the Steelers at home, 30-23, dropping their record to 8-8 but remain alive for a playoff spot.

Seattle clinches playoff berth with:

Cody Davis – DB, New England Patriots (2009-12)
Davis recorded his third special teams tackle of the season in the Patriots’ 27-21 loss against the Bills. Davis’ tackle came after the Patriots first punt of the game in the first quarter. New England fell to 4-12 and will host the Jets for its final game of the season next week.

Sam Eguavoen – LB, New York Jets (2011-14)   
Eguavoen saw action in 19 plays, all on special teams, in the Jets’ 37-20 loss at Cleveland. The Jets’ record is 6-10 heading into their season finale versus the also already-eliminated Patriots, from the playoff race, next week.

Patrick Mahomes II – QB, Kansas City Chiefs (2014-16)     

Mahomes and the Chiefs clinched their eighth consecutive AFC West crown last week in a 25-17 home victory over Cincinnati. Mahomes threw for 245 yards and one touchdown on 21-of-29 passing in the win. Kansas City is locked into the No. 3 seed in the AFC Conference heading into the final week of the regular season. They will host the No. 6 seed during the wild-card round with five different opponents still possible which includes Miami, Buffalo, Pittsburgh, Indianapolis or Houston.

Terence Steele – OL, Dallas Cowboys (2016-19) 

Steele and the Cowboys were once again featured in a prime-time game where they beat an already playoff-bound team like itself, Detroit, 20-19. Steele saw action in all 65 offensive snaps and recovered a fumble lost by Dak Prescott in the fourth quarter. He also chipped in on special teams for four plays. The win was pivotal for playoff seeding, coupled with a Philadelphia loss, the Cowboys could clinch the NFC East crown and the overall No. 2 seed in the NFC with a win next week at Washington. Should Dallas do so, the Cowboys would host either Los Angeles (Rams), Seattle, Green Bay, Minnesota or New Orleans in the first round depending on Week 18 outcomes.

Broderick Washington Jr. – DL, Baltimore Ravens (2016-19)  
Washington had one tackle in the Ravens’ dominant 56-19 win at home against the Dolphins. Washington played 38 percent of the Ravens’ defensive snaps and also chipped in on special teams for three plays. With the best record in the NFL overall, the Ravens own the AFC North division title, No. 1 seed, and the AFC’s lone first-round bye and home-field advantage throughout the playoffs.

Tyree Wilson – DE, Las Vegas Raiders (2020-22)     
Wilson saw action in 36 percent of the Raiders’ defensive snaps and also chipped in on special teams for five plays. The Raiders, who are eliminated from playoff contention, wrap up their season next week at home versus the Broncos.
