Reported Engine Fire Causes SWA Plane to Return to Gate Before Take-Off

Southwest Airlines flight #1928, departing from Lubbock Preston Smith International Airport bound for Las Vegas, returned to the gate before take-off for a reported engine fire.

The flight crew reported a possible engine fire shortly after the plane taxied from the gate. Lubbock Fire Rescue responded, and was on stand-by as the plane returned to the gate on its own power.

No passengers were injured, and they have all deplaned and are in the terminal.

Right now, runway 17R is closed for cleaning and inspection.
