No. 21 Tech enters final day of SWI tied for second

WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif. — After firing rounds of 277 and 283, No. 21 Texas Tech (-8) sits just two strokes back from the lead entering the final 18 holes of the annual Southwestern Invitational (SWI). The Red Raiders finished day two of the tournament 8-under-par after firing a second-round 1-under-par 283 and are tied with UNLV and Colorado while trailing only Ohio State (-10) on the team leaderboard.

Tyran Snyders led the way for Tech once again on day two, as the senior followed his strong Monday by shooting a 3-under-par 68 on Tuesday, which featured three birdies and an eagle on hole No. 6. At 8-under-par, Sanders occupies sole possession of second place entering the final day of the invitational and trails only Colorado’s Tucker Clark (-10) on the individual leaderboard.

Fellow senior Vicente Marzilio propelled himself into the top 20 with a day two score of 2-under-par 69, his first sub-70 round of the season. Powered by a strong start to the day that featured birdies on three of the first six holes, Marzilio currently sits in a tie for 15th after ending Monday in a tie for 25th.

Rounding out the team’s four scores counted on Tuesday is Calum Scott and Baard Skogen, both of whom enter Wednesday 1-over-par and tied for 28th place, respectively. Skogen fired a 1-over-par 72 while Scott shot a 3-over-par 74 in the second round.

The Southwestern Invitational wraps up on Wednesday with the third and final round.
