Selection Sunday for Tech Basketball

March 17th is officially selection Sunday for the NCAA Tournament and Texas Tech hosted a watch party at the United Supermarkets Arena from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. for all fans and locals to watch and support Tech Basketball on their journey to see where they will play for the first round of March Madness. This event had many fans, the basketball team, and the spirit squad for Tech as everyone anxiously awaited to see what region and seed this year’s basketball team would end up.
The Pom Squad arrived at the arena at 4:15 p.m. and started dancing and cheering on fans as the selection would be announced a little after 5. We had over half of the pom squad members at this appearance, and this was an appearance that was so magical, rowdy, and truly a special event to be a part of because this basketball tournament is a huge event and milestone for Tech athletics.
Tech basketball was announced as a #6 seed in the South region, which means Tech basketball will be traveling to Pittsburgh to play against NC State on Thursday March 21 for the round of 64 in the 2024 NCAA Tournament. Everyone was so pumped during this announcement as the arena of Tech fans roared for the basketball team when they were announced. I am so excited and super blessed that the university gave the pom squad an opportunity to be a part of this unforgettable moment. I will be traveling with the pom squad to the first weekend of the NCAA and I could not be more excited to have this opportunity of a lifetime.
If Tech wins the game against NC State, then they will play the winner of Kentucky and Oakland in the round of 32 on March 23 in hopes of advancing to the second weekend of the NCAA Tournament to make it to the Sweet 16. Every fan in Lubbock is rooting for Tech basketball to make a huge run in the big dance and I cannot wait to experience everything in my travel to Pittsburgh
