Tech First Baseman Gavin Kash Tabbed Perfect Game Preseason All-American

LUBBOCK, Texas – Fresh off a season that featured a .327 batting average, 26 homers and 84 RBIs, Texas Tech first baseman Gavin Kash was selected as a 2024 Preseason All-America Second Team selection by Perfect Game.

In his first year with the Red Raiders, Kash shined, leading the Big 12 in home runs (26), RBIs (84) and total bases (182).

The lone Red Raider to start all 64 games in 2023, Kash ended the season second in program history in homers, trailing just Joe Dillion who socked 33 longballs in 1997. The Sour Lake natives’ 26 homers are the most in the BBCOR (2011-Pres.) era.

He also finished the 2024 season inside the top-10 (single season) for conference homers (10), total bases (182), RBIs (84) and became the seventh Red Raider to record a multi-HR game in the NCAA Tournament when he hit a pair of longballs in the 5-4 victory over national-runner up Florida.

Kash highlights a strong returning core that features Freshmen All-America selection Kevin Bazzell (.348 AVG, 10 HR, 62 RBI) and Gage Harrelson (.324, 22 xBH, 45 RBI) as well as Kyle Robinson (45.1 IP, 45 K) and Zane Petty (38.0 IP, 32 K)

The Red Raiders open the 2024 season on Feb. 16-18 when they head to Arlington for the 2024 Shriner’s Children’s Collegiate where they will face Tennessee (Feb. 16), Nebraska (Feb. 17) and Oregon (Feb. 18) at Globe Life Field.
