Texas Tech Baseball wins Series at home vs the BYU Cougars
Lubbock, Texas – The Texas Tech Red Raiders baseball team took on the BYU Cougars in a three game home stand this past weekend.
The Red Raiders (17-7, 4-5 Big 12) stole two out of three games against BYU (11-10, 4-5 Big 12) in a close series of games.
Game one took place Thursday, March 21st, with BYU narrowly taking the victory putting up 8 runs compared to the Red Raiders 5.
BYU came out hot, scoring 5 runs in the first three innings. Going into the seventh inning, the Red Raiders were down 7-3. Although the Red Raiders scored two runs in the eighth inning, the lead was too big to overcome.
Friday’s game was a better outcome for the Red Raiders, with them taking the win 4-3 in a close fought battle.
Red Raiders pitcher Kyle Robinson, pitched a great game going six innings giving up zero earned runs and striking out five.
The Red Raiders went into the eighth inning up 3-1. The BYU Cougars responded with two crucial runs tying the game going into the bottom of the ninth.
Designated Hitter, Landon Stripling hit a game winning single driving in Dylan Maxcey giving the Red Raiders a 4-3 win.
Game three, the Red Raiders found their stride beating the Cougars in dominant fashion recording 15 hits winning 10-1.
The Red Raiders are scheduled to play against Stephen F. Austin on March 26th at Dan Law Field, with the game kicking off at 6:30 p.m. Following this, they will hit the road for a three-game series against UCF in Orlando, Florida.
