Texas Tech is 12 seed in Big 12 Championship

LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech Lady Raiders are heading into the Phillips 66 Big 12 Women’s Basketball Championship as the 12-seed as announced by the conference office on Sunday afternoon.

 

The Lady Raiders, who finished the regular season with an overall record of 16-15 and a Big 12 record of 5-13, are now set to face the 13-seeded Houston Cougars on Thursday, March 7 at 5:30 p.m. CT at the T-Mobile Center in Kansas City, Mo. The game will be streamed on Big 12 Now on ESPN+.

 

Tech swept the season series against the Cougars with a 79-71 victory at Houston to open conference play, then added another win, 66-48, at the United Supermarkets Arena back on January 24.

 

The Oklahoma Sooners earned the top seed in the championship after claiming the regular season title, followed by Texas with the 2-seed, Kansas State with the 3-seed and Iowa State with the 4-seed, all securing the double-byes.

 

Getting a first round bye are the five through 10 seeds in Baylor, West Virginia, Kansas, Oklahoma State, TCU and BYU, all in that order. Right above Tech in the seeding is Cincinnati at 11 while UCF comes in as the 14-seed. These two teams will join the Lady Raiders and Houston in playing on Thursday as the Knights and Bearcats face off in the night cap.

 

The championship is set to take place from March 7 through March 12. Single-session tickets remain on sale, online only at www.Big12Sports.com/buytickets or www.t-mobilecenter.com. Premium seating options range from $35-$85, dependent on the session and sideline reserved seats range from $15 for early rounds to $25 for the championship game. General Admission tickets can be purchased starting at $10.
